101 Things in 1001 Days (Two Month Update!)

Beginning February 1st, 2018, I began my 101 Things in 1001 Days challenge. Today marks two months since officially starting, and two months since this blog went live! Yay!

I originally started this blog to keep myself occupied with a project while I was unemployed. Since then my goals for this blog have changed. The dream is to be able to turn this blog into a successful biz.

I know many blogs fail within the first 6-12 months but I am so excited about the idea and love writing for you guys. I truly appreciate the continued support as this blog grows.

I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to write a guest post for the website Proposition No. While it is not a paid freelance job, it was my first guest post and I’m overjoyed!

Proposition No’s mission is to empower women and marginalized peoples through communication and personal style. I’m happy to be able to contribute to those goals.

Completed March 7, 2018. Despite the heavy snowfall that morning, being out as the sky slowly brightened started my day in the right way.

The purge was completed on March 24, 2018! So therapeutic.

Increase Instagram following to 200

I far surpassed this goal. On March 11 I hit 200 followers and as of today 273 of you guys are following my Instagram account!

Pay off a credit card in full 


I wasn’t sure if I should include this one as complete or in progress. Struggling to decrease my credit debt because of high-interest rates, my parents agreed to pay off my card and I would repay them. So the credit card is paid off…but I still owe the money, just to my parents.

I decided to put this as in progress in the hopes I can pay off the amount before the end of this challenge.

Read 20 books I already own (2/20)


Two books! During the month of March, I finally completed A Storm of Swords by George R. R. Martin as well as Coffee at Lukes: An Unauthorized Gilmore Girls Gabfest

Finish all Game of Throne books (3/5)


A Storm of Swords finally makes the list. It is going to be a while before I pick up the fourth in the series (enjoying some shorter books instead).

Learn how to take good blog photographs 


Over the last week, I’ve been looking into prop styling tips and tricks and ways to make Instagram photographs more cohesive. I always wondered how bloggers got so many interesting backgrounds and objects in their photos. Did they travel to various places to take them? Do they have bins and bins of props?

I’ve actually learned that it can be more simple than that, especially for food photography. So now I’m looking into building my own photography lightbox and thinking about what kind of props and materials I want to find for cheap.

Eat vegetarian for 1 month

I decided to make my diet completely vegetarian again a week ago. This was actually pretty easy for me.

I used to be vegetarian a few years back and was able to keep it up for almost two years. I am confident that I should have no problem maintaining the lifestyle for a month (my plan isn’t to go for one month and stop either).


Visit 5 local cafes in Ottawa (1/5)


One of my favourite things to do is hang out in cafés and work on my blog or read a book.

In March, I took the bus to Equator Coffee in Westboro Village. Having visited the Equator café in Almonte Ontario, I knew they had amazing coffee. The Westboro location though had a much different vibe that I prefer over the other. The decor is more rustic and there is more of a cozy and hipster atmosphere. They also had the greatest Insta-worthy “Coffee” sign that has now become my desktop wallpaper. The vanilla latte I ordered was the best latte I have had in a long time!

Try 30 new recipes (3/30)

In March I tried three new recipes I hadn’t tried before.

Tempeh Hash with Brussel Sprouts (click through to see what I thought of it!)

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Smoothie Bowl (I used strawberry, banana, and kiwi instead of just strawberries)

Vegetarian Spaghetti Squash Skillet (I substituted Daiya Mozzarella Shreds for the cheese to make it vegan!)

I blew this one out of the park, publishing 11 new posts in March. Here is a recap if you missed any!
